What is 4x4 Posi-Lok?
4x4 Posi-Lok is the patented (Patent No. 5,605,213) cable activated engagement device designed to replace the failure prone OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) vacuum and electric front axle engagement systems. 4x4 Posi-Lok is not a posi-trac or locker. 4x4 Posi-Lok is simple and easy to install and allows you to engage your front axle from inside the cab. After engaging the transfer case, a one-inch pull of the 4x4 Posi-Lok cable ensures the front axles are connected. This system puts the driver in direct control of the 4-wheel drive front axle engagement.
What are the benefits of 4x4 Posi-Lok?
4x4 Posi-Lok reduces front differential wear and right axle
breakage.
4x4 Posi-Lok provides 2-wheel drive low range, giving the
vehicle 4-LO torque at the rear axle with bind free steering only available
in 2-HI. This feature is not available with factory systems and is beneficial
when maneuvering trailers.
4x4 Posi-Lok will not disengage when ignition is turned off
or the differential is submerged.
4x4 Posi-Lok is compatible with manual or electric transfer cases and installation can be completed in one to two hours with basic hand tools. No internal differential work is required
How difficult is it to install a 4x4 Posi-Lok?
4x4 Posi-Lok can be installed under two hours with simple hand tools.
Why should I replace my O.E. actuator?
The weak link is eliminated. Vacuum and electric actuators tend to fail for various reasons leaving you stuck! The 4x4 Posi-Lok puts the driver in control of the 4 wheel drive engagement.
The 4x4 Posi-Lok provides the benefit of 2 wheel drive low range by simply not engaging the front axle. This is beneficial on the trail when maneuvering in tight corners or when maneuvering trailers/campers.

Is the 4x4 Posi-Lok a locking device?
No. The 4x4 Posi-Lok replaces the failure prone O.E. electric and vacuum devices to connect the intermediate axle shafts. A locker is installed in the differential.
